PLEASE COME TO A FUTURE ESCAPE THEATRE PRODUCTION

With music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, The Sound of Music is a true theatrical classic. Based on the 1949 memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers and set in Austria in 1938, the musical tells the story of Maria, who takes a job as governess to a large family while she decides whether to become a nun.

Opening on Broadway in 1959 to critical acclaim, The Sound of Music won 5 of the 9 Tony Awards it was nominated for. It is perhaps best known, however, for the 1965 movie adaptation starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer which won 5 of its 10 nominated Academy Awards.

The songs are timeless, including, "My Favorite Things", "Do-Re-Mi", and, of course, "The Sound of Music". Our large cast, beautiful costumes, and orchestra make this a production to remember for actors and audience members alike.
